Using Ready Together

We have designed Ready Together so you should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 400% without losing content or functionality
  • change text spacing without losing content or functionality
  • navigate the website using a keyboard
  • use the website with a screen reader
  • use speech recognition software
  • use the website on a mobile, tablet or desktop computer
  • understand information without relying on colour alone
  • move through headings, links, forms and controls in a logical order

We also aim to make our content easy to understand.

We use short sentences, clear headings and common words wherever possible.

We explain technical terms when we need to use them.

Our accessibility standard

Our minimum accessibility standard is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA.

These guidelines are usually called WCAG 2.2 AA.

They explain how to make websites and digital services more accessible to disabled people.

We aim to go beyond the AA standard where this is practical.

Accessibility is part of our design, content, development, testing and quality assurance.

Back to contents

Compliance status

Content pending final accessibility testing.

The compliance statement will be completed after the final WCAG 2.2 AA assessment, before launch. No compliance claim is made until then.

Known accessibility issues

Content pending final accessibility testing.

This section will be completed after the final accessibility assessment.

We will keep accessibility under review and update this statement if we find new issues.

How we test accessibility

We test Ready Together against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

We use both automated and manual accessibility testing.

Automated testing alone cannot find every accessibility problem.

Our testing includes a representative sample of pages and the main ways people use the platform.

We check areas including:

  • keyboard navigation
  • visible keyboard focus
  • headings and page structure
  • links and buttons
  • forms and error messages
  • colour contrast
  • text resizing and spacing
  • zoom and responsive layouts
  • screen reader use
  • images and text alternatives
  • downloadable documents and resources

Last accessibility test: to be confirmed after final testing.

Testing carried out by: to be confirmed after final testing.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We build accessibility into Ready Together.

We use accessible design and development standards across the platform.

We also:

  • write content in plain English
  • use clear headings and descriptive links
  • design for keyboard and assistive technology use
  • provide text descriptions for meaningful images
  • check colour contrast and visible focus
  • design for different screen sizes and levels of zoom
  • check forms, controls and error messages
  • make downloadable resources accessible
  • test accessibility when we make significant changes

Accessibility work does not stop when the website launches.

We review problems reported by users and fix accessibility barriers where we can.
